Fupper’s “I’m Fine Little Man” is a sure fire hit, evocative in style of a nursery rhyme, though with totally adult elements and themes. Bluesy psych-rock at its brilliant best.”
BLEEP on Inversions

“Shrouded in mystery with a melancholic feel. If it’s a tad fucked experimentation that you’re after, then Fupper should fit your bill.”

UPDATE on Milk

“Wilfully eclectic and endearingly restless tales of mysterious things never quite explained.”

COMES WITH A SMILE on Walleyecandy

Fupper channels Moondog through oddball lo-fi psych
NORMAN on Inversions

“Fupper’s glitchy post-rock workouts make for a captivating and impressive debut.”

MACHINE RECORDS on Walleyecandy

“Engaging songs with a full spectrum distortion on the guitar. The loops are dense and build into a much more textured beast. The vocals are quiet, and again almost textural in their contribution. Well worth checking out again”

SPIRIT OF GRAVITY live review

There’s bits of electronics, acoustics, drones, folk and some love chucked in for good measure. This is one of the most interesting records I’ve heard in donkeys.“

NORMAN RECORDS on Yarbles

Fupper’s “I’m Fine Little Man” is bluesy psych-rock with gentle shakers and hand drums. There’s a campfire intimacy to the song, helped by Simon Hughes’ vocal arcs, making it one of the EP’s most likeable contributions
RESIDENT ADVISOR – Inversions

"a fine blast of bedroom racket with drum machine rhythms overlaid by a blanket of lo-fi psychedelic guitar strum and hushed vocals coming on like a clattering flying saucer attack collaborating with barlow’s sentridoh.“
ROUGH TRADE on Show me your hands

‘Show Me Your Hands’ has some really interesting percussion with melodic guitar and a trippy vocal that sounds like it was recorded underwater. It’s a decent tune, really atmospheric and dreamy.

NORMAN RECORDS on Show me your hands

"The murky lo-fi sound effectivly enchances the atmosphere of folky meanderings such as the excellent ‘Call me any name (But my own) ’.”

ROCKSOUND 8/10 on Walleyecandy

Tapping into a 60s vibe is the lighter work of Fupper’s “I’m Fine Little Man”. Dreamy vocals add to the song’s low-key casual vibe. While the rhythm continues to dominate the song’s airier approach gives a respite of sorts from the high intensity energy.
BEACHSLOTH – Inversions

Fupper. You just know they’re gonna be a little odd with a name like that. A CD on Tritone is clutched in my withered, scaly talons as we speak & from the offset it’s a beguiling listen. Lo-fi & proud. Starts off sounding like 3 Mile Pilot stuck in a dustbin, a wonderful thing. All muffled with this great little tune seeping from under the rim. Goes all experimental instrumental for a lot of the CD throwing a lot of clanking & wondrous early Folk Implosion shapes into the mix. A truly enjoyable listen containing some really good rhythms & atmospheric little tunes. Can even hear some Shimmy Disc-esque shapes in there ala Uncle Wiggly & Fly Ashtray (WHO??? I hear you scream)
NORMAN Walleyecandy

“Fupper is the solo project of Simon Hughes, who has been quietly creating intricate lo-fi with his reel-to-reel, guitar, percussion and sonorous voice for over twenty years."
